There is a very black duck in Yerrabi pond. Very black, no obvious mottling, slight teal sheen on neck and hint of teal under wing feathers. I thought maybe
the American Black Duck, Anas rubripes, but the ones I have seen before were less black, like a darker version of our Pacific Black Duck. This one was swimming and taking bread with the hundreds of coots, only distinguishable from them at a distance
by its larger duck size (and black bill). I am sure someone more knowledgable than me will tell me it is obviously duck X or Y, so please do!
