Some members of Canberra Ornithologists Group live in NSW, the vast majority of COG members do quite a lot of birding in NSW. Many of our field trips are to NSW (like the one we are enjoying right now near Barren Grounds - a nearby lyrebird has been serenading us for at least an hour).  If you are concerned about protection of native vegetation, please read Stephen's note below, and look at some of the sites he links to, and consider making your views known to the NSW government through the various submission processes.

Hi All,

The NSW Government's draft NSW Biodiversity Conservation Bill 2016 will be
read in the NSW Parliament soon.  If passed, it will likely result in
significantly more native vegetation being cleared, including thinning or
complete removal of areas of remnant woodland on farms, and facilitate major
developments such as mines, coal seam gas activities and large-scale urban
development.  Of course, this will impact significantly on biodiversity,
including the birds and their habitats.  Therefore, I encourage you to sign
online petitions from environment groups that are currently circulating,
read through the legislation and supporting documents, and even put in your
own submission (deadline: 28 June 2016).
