Subject: [canberrabirds] another carpark alert
this morning at Kambah Pool South carpark someone tried to loosen the wheel nuts on my car - not sure why, and no damage done. Someone was crouched beside my car as I came back to carpark, scuttled into his car (parked right next to mine in an otherwise
empty carpark) so I did not have a good view of what he was doing) and took off in a great hurry. when I looked at wheels most nuts on all 4 wheels showed silvery marks (my car's usually very dusty, and more so after an interstate trip last week) so it was
very obvious someone had been at the nuts and in doing so had removed patches of dirt.
I dropped in to police station on my way home and reported it, including the rego number of the very noisy silver sedan involved. Since there's no damage, and I couldn't actually see what this person was doing, there's not much they can do now, but at
least they have some details in case anyone else has similar, or worse, problems involving that car.
what's most annoying is now feeling more apprehensive about birdwatching in these reserves, where I'm often the only car in the carpark most mornings...
