Julie,

Thanks for posting the photos of the Stone-curlews at Mulligans Flat and how rewarding that you were able to get a glimpse of them. You will note that in the picture you took there were three birds, two standing both of which showed the white leg flags. Unfortunately one flag could not be read but for your information the other, D0, is a male released in September 2015. His name is Lewis and he mated around Christmas 2015 with Kay and two eggs were laid but unfortunately for reasons unknown, although probably because they were both only one year old, the nesting attempt was unsuccessful.

Hoping this is of interest,

Chris

Hi All,

I was lucky enough to hear the Bush Stone-curlews calling this afternoon on numerous occasions.

Ten minutes before the 3pm curfew I heard their wailing  for a third time and turned in the direction of the sound and couldn't believe it when I actually saw four or possibly more of the beautiful birds moving in the opposite direction into more dense vegetation.

I managed a  couple of photos before heading for my exit gate (which had already been locked!!)

A first sighting for me ... cropped photo on Flickr ....

Cheers

Julie
