Unfortunately the trip to Micalong Swamp was not possible due to the extreme weather forecast.  However for those who turned up ready to go, 85 Yellow-tailed Black Cockatoo flying noisly past was a consoling outcome.  So thank you David.

I then took the opportunity to check out Coombs shallow water quality pond off John Gorton Drive, and was rewarded by a beautiful walk around the lake paths in intermittent sunshine, and greeted by White Fronted Chats upon arrival, a few Little Pied Cormorant, 1 Hardhead, 1 Great Egret, 5 Pipit and Australasian Coot in the majority. From this walk the new walking track to cross the river is enticingly visible.

Next on to Weston Ponds – 17 Pink Eared Duck with pink ears, half a dozen Hardhead, 2 Black-fronted Dotterel, Hoary-headed Grebe, Grey Teal and Pacific Black Duck.

Not a bad day after all.

Jean
