An immediate question arises: if this is supposed to compete with eBird, in generating data to assist in bird conservation, why does one have to be a member of BLA to use it (or test it)?

Hi,

At the meeting of bird clubs held in Sydney over the weekend Paul Sullivan CEO, Birdlife Australia gave a demonstration of the soon to be released Birdata portal.

It is envisaged that the portal and associated App will be made available for general use sometime in June. At the meeting Paul placed a request for BLA members to field test the beta version.

If there are any COG BLA members who would like to give the portal a run could you please contact me. I will then forward your email address to Paul and he will arrange for the computing group at BLA to give you access.  The idea is to get a few members from each group to field test the portal and provide them with feedback before the release.

Chris
