The bird that visited Bernie Sander's podium while he was speaking at Portland, 
Oregon was identified as the Mexican House Finch, (Haemorhous mexicanus). This 
could be seen by some as a very good omen for the Presidential candidate 
because the species is introduced and widespread in North America, including in 
Hawaii where Bernie is competing against Hilary Clinton for the Democratic 
nomination.
