An interesting observation: just before dusk tonight I was up Oakey Hill in Lyons. A relatively small Boobook Owl flew into a dead tree, onto a branch about a metre off the ground and only four metres or so away from where I was sitting. I watched it for a few minutes, and then it flew into a bush that seemed full of Superb Fairywrens that were noisily settling down for the night. After a few seconds only of flapping, the boobook emerged and flew back to its perch carrying a male fairywren, and commenced feeding. It was still eating when I left.
