2 tiny fluffball Swamphen chicks, no more than a few days old, sighted at Fadden Hills Pond today. I would have thought it was a bit late for breeding, but... 
This is the second clutch of the season. The population was just 1 at this time last year, now there are 8, after another adult flew in one day and the rest are their offspring. 

I have heard Koels consistently until the 14th from home, and again yesterday (18th). I may have heard one call once this morning but can't be sure.

PS. I highly recommend the 'Bush Capital' exhibition at CMAG that someone else posted about. I went yesterday, maybe an hour to have a good look at everything. Entry is free.
