To the Canberra Ornothologists Group,
Next Saturday 19 March at 4pm, we are presenting a screening at Rob Nugent's new doco NIGHT PARROT STORIES at Arc Cinema as part of the Art Not Apart Festival.
As I know a number of your membership advised Rob over the 3 years it took him to make this film, and some of you even appear in it, I was wondering if you could help spread the word to your members
who might be interested in attending the screening?
Tickets are $10 and

Many thanks
Night Parrot Stories (2016, PG)
Dir: Robert Nugent, Australia, 89mins
Somewhere in the remote deserts of Australia lived an elusive nocturnal bird called the Night Parrot. Virtually nothing is known of its ecology. It disappeared at the end of the 19th Century. Searching
for evidence of its existence became a preoccupation. Night Parrot Stories was filmed in all the locations where Night Parrots where once lived, during a time when stories of extinction were everywhere. It is a beautiful story, a conjugation of art and science,
that questions how knowledge is created and eventually lost.
The film documents a quest to locate the rare nocturnal desert dwelling bird, and presents a range of ethnographic approaches, while raising questions with respect to our fragmented and incomplete natural
history archive, engagement with indigenous communities, and the ethics and aesthetics of representing more-than-human environments.
Filmmaker Rob Nugent will introduce the film, with screening followed by a Q&A session.
