Hughes seems to be a leading GG hot-spot. The area Sandra Henderson mentioned (between Jensen Street and Hughes Primary) regularly hosts gatherings. They seem to be all adults and I guess they are feeding in cypress trees further down towards Hughes Oval (and sometimes on the seed pods of Acacia cultriformis in our backyard). As far as I can see there are no large trees with hollows anywhere in this area.

The other day one of the birds in our yard was a male in immature plumage, but it looked so confident and mature that I think it was probably a 2014-15 season bird.

The other good area is Red Hill from Hampden Pl, off Kent St that Tung Pin Ong mentioned. Walk up the very steep track to the water tower and they are generally in that area. Breeding could easily occur on Red Hill, though I haven't seen any evidence this season.
