Hughes seems to be a leading GG hot-spot. The area Sandra Henderson mentioned (between Jensen Street and Hughes Primary) regularly hosts gatherings. They seem to be all adults and I guess they are feeding in cypress trees further down towards Hughes Oval
(and sometimes on the seed pods of Acacia cultriformis in our backyard). As far as I can see there are no large trees with hollows anywhere in this area.
The other day one of the birds in our yard was a male in immature plumage, but it looked so confident and mature that I think it was probably a 2014-15 season bird.-- John Leonard
