The last of the seven frogmouth families that we've been watching on western Mt Ainslie has now fledged - photo attached of the parents with the two chicks.  It might be noted that one of the chicks is quite a bit smaller than the other.  Currawongs have repeatedly harassed this family over the last few weeks and even today one was still acting threateningly, though the parents seem to have the measure of the marauders.

Of the seven families, five were successful at fledging, two failed.  Of the five, three families had one chick each, and two had two each.  The two failures included a pair of chicks in one family and a single in the other.  We hope that the failed pairs might try again.  This happened last year with one of these same pairs and they were successful the second time around.
