I have written of the Leaden Flycatcher, Noisy Friarbird, Magpie & Noisy Miner nests all within about 20 metres at Pine Island South. I went for a quick check this morning. All nests are still being attended by adults. Now I found something (I thought) less expected. A Satin Bowerbird is nest building at the top of the nearest big Casuarina to the tree with the Leaden Flycatcher’s nest. She was breaking off little branches from one Casuarina and then flying to the nest in another, to build. I did not notice a SBB there on the blitz day but maybe this activity only started after.
