The pair of Tawny Frogmouth chicks raised in the red ironbark two houses away from where I live in Derwent St, Lyons, left their nest sometime overnight on
Friday 23 - Saturday 24 October this year. I had a worried 10 minutes or so on the Saturday morning before I saw the chicks with one adult (presumably the male) on a branch on the other side of the same tree, perhaps 25 feet from the nest, with the other
adult (presumably the female) watching from a small tree nearby, so they made it into the blitz. All had gone by Mon 26 October, and I have not seen them since, but there are many potential roost trees nearby.

The earliest fledged frogmouth chicks I know of this year in the ACT area left the nest on the night of the 29/30th October, at a Red Hill site.
A few broods are not far behind, then there will be many in a week /two weeks time. I'll post some shots online soon.

My estimate is that our pair of Lawn Frogmouth chicks have a week before they leave the nest. While they wait they posed for a nice family photo.
