The intrepid Terriers ( 2 ) visited Yankee Hat in the Brindabellas yesterday and recorded a marsh harrier on two occasions, which possibly could have been the same bird.

A reminder that Jerry Olsen’s group is keen to have reports of any breeding Little Eagles for the purpose of long-term monitoring and the annual write-up.  This year, we know about current activity of the Campbell Park/Wetlands pair and the Uriarra/Strathnairn pair.  Pairs seen elsewhere, or possible nests, will be of great interest and will be checked out.   Jerry is also interested in any breeding in the ACT by the other medium soarers – Whistling Kite and harriers.  Information can be sent to me or Jerry –

Incidentally, re the blitz,  I have a report of large numbers of Great Crested Grebes, possibly nesting, on Cotter Reservoir.  Someone might be able pick these up, although it could involve a longish walk to a suitable vantage point.

Two more sleeps till COG’s bird blitz 2015. The final list of sites adopted will be up on the website shortly and I’m pleased to say we have the ACT reasonably well covered so thanks birders for your response! As you would be aware, there are many excellent birding sites that weren’t listed so if you have a special favourite that you’d like to visit, pls do so. Now to the surveys … At least the weather is predicted to be reasonable this year. May the weekend bring many birds and even if they are all common ones, recording them is so very important. I look forward to being overwhelmed with datasheets very soon. Safe and productive birding, all! b
