Hi Terry and Mary (Alan?)
I live in James Scott Close and also keep an eye out for this pair of Dollarbirds. I assume you meant 19 October rather than September? I first heard and saw
one of them on Sunday 18 October, but so far I’ve only seen the one. I haven’t yet got around to checking my first sightings (arrival dates) for previous years.
I also got some photos of last year’s young as they were shown around the neighbourhood by their parents. Interesting to see the colour development of both
plumage and bills.
Let’s hope they’re successful in raising more young this year…

Subject: [canberrabirds] Dollarbirds return
As mentioned around this time last year our dollarbird pair have returned from places far to the north. This makes it the 5th year they have returned
to their favourite old eucalypt near the 6th hole on the Murrumbidgee Golf Course. Last year one arrived a few days before the mate. This year it looks like they arrived together on the 19 Sept. My diary shows that this is about a week earlier than the normal
last week of October.
Last year they hatched and fledged 3 young and I managed some fine photos.
