A ringtail has whiskers. It also has a white hook at the end of its tail,
shown in the photo I posted yesterday.

It's a ringtail.

Because the bloody head section I picked up yesterday morning from the
roadway, besmattered by droppings under the pin oak tree certainly has long
black ones.

Furthermore, I also claim that it has rodent like teeth which should
indicate it is something like a bush rat and not a a ring tail possum as
suggested by others.

Watch this site for further developments but I will bring it along on the
Wednesday trip to Rowes Lagoon for the non-squeamish to inspect.

Another interesting fact we discovered about Turner, the powerful owl, was
learned from Julie Carter ( ex CSIRO ) that it regularly roosts in her
backyard in nearby Boldrewood St. and usually hoots as leaving on nightly
hunting forays.
