This morning while surveying termite mounds for Rosenbergs Monitor activity, and looking at our local nesting frogmouths, I had an excellent view of a brown goshawk flying by at below head height through thick casuarina forest on western
Mt A. It was silently seeking prey and frightened off two shrieking rosellas who saw it at the last minute. I was able to get close enough to lie on my side a get a couple of half reasonable shots through the branches. One attached.
Frogmouths doing well though a curled up possum in one of the nest trees was a concern re a possible nocturnal attack on the nest. A shingleback topped off the morning. Found one possible Rosenbergs hatching hole; as yet unconfirmed. Cheers Matthew *******************************************************************************************************
