On 30 Sep 2015 Robin Hide and Michael Lenz carried out the spring woodland survey on the lower eastern slopes of Mt Ainslie (9 sites). The weather was pleasant, although still cool in the morning. At many sites trees were not in good shape, notably also many of the larger eucalypts. The grass ground cover was mostly reduced to short lawn as a result of kangaroo grazing. A total of 35 species were recorded at sites and an extra 13 species between sites.

The most widespread species were Crimson Rosella (8 sites), Nosiy Miner (7x), Galah, Eastern Rosella, Australian Magpie and Striated Pardalote (each 6x). The most common species at sites were Crimson Rosella (18), Eastern Rosella (16), Noisy Miner (15) and Australian King Parrot (13).

Most sites were rather quiet, and spring arrivals (e.g. Noisy Friarbird, Rufous Whistler, both species of Gerygone) were few in numbers and they kept fairly quiet. Of special interest were Brown Falcon, Little Eagle (but no Brown Goshawk),Shining Bronze Cuckoo, and Mistletoebird.
