Well that is a huge leap of context in a question from nectar to sunflower seeds to predation on nestlings............ I wonder where that comes from.

Yes they will take advantage of seeds, they are after all parrots. There has been some recent attention to some also taking meat from food trays put out for butcherbirds etc. That probably stems from that the food is in the same situation as seeds put out for parrots. It is probably taken as a strange type of fruit, rather than meat eating directly. And yes some parrots eat some meat and of course insect larvae.

The husband of a friend of mine in Juwin St Aranda regularly feeds 6+ Rainbow Lorikeets on sunflower seeds. I thought RLs were nectar and fruit feeders. I wonder if they eat baby birds of other species?
