I was at Kelly’s yesterday around noon. Saw one Latham’s Snipe.
While I was there, a Swamp Harrier flew in, accompanied in close escort by a raven and a pair of Masked Lapwings. The latter have a nest on one of the little
islands in the north portion. The SH landed deep in reeds such that I could not see it, but its presence was heralded by the periodic dive-bombing of the MLs. After about 30 minutes, the Harrier summed up the courage (or couldn’t stand the shrieks of the
lapwings any more) and climbed out of the reeds to fly further down the swamp again with close escort.
