During a tour of some of the local frogmouth territories yesterday afternoon (eggs imminent in at least one, birds in position in several others), I had good views of a female (judging by size) Peregrine circling high above the western slopes of Mt Ainslie, and lit by the setting sun against dark blue rain clouds. I was alerted to her presence by the loud panic of miners.
