You are partly correct Martin, the omission being reference to the Winter Birds surveys which pointed to the same conclusion.  By coincidence I was just working on a talk from which I offer two slides.  This is one: ----  (Note season of the table.  I suggest high Spring rate is due to persistent calling.)

Late last week a calling bird was reported to me from Wanna-Wanna Rd (near the start of Captains Flat Rd).  Today I have heard one calling in beautiful downtown Whiskers Creek Rd.

 

I recall previous discussion of this, in which Geoffrey seemed to find one at most orienteering events throughout the year.  They are however quite unusual in Carwoola in the depths of Winter: perhaps they are a foraging party sent out to locate Mr Dabb, not realising 

  • he has switched sports and/or
  • we are a bit challenged for golf courses out this way!
