This bird was enjoying itself ripping the tree and spitting out the wood. Wherever they have been it looks like someone has used an axe on the tree.

 

You certainly wouldn’t want them at home.

 

The attached photo shows the YTBC hanging onto the trunk and continuing to rip.

I think that photo shows how they first break off a section of wood to perch on then use that as a perch to stand on whilst they continue biting into the tree to get grubs out.

I saw about 50 Yellow Tailed Black Cockatoos on Mt Majura on 13 June and about half that number yesterday.
