The fix suggested by David works well.  The only trick is that to set the language back and forth click on the cog (not COG) icon in the lower RHS of the screen.

Hello again. Yes I had set the language to English (Australian) and it returns the Clements species names.

I have now checked the (excellent) eBird help files and the answer is there. It is a known bug. To get the English (Australia) species list, change the language back to English (United States) and go back to the home page. Wait till that species list downloads. Then change the language to English (Australia), go back to the home page and wait till the Oz species list downloads. You may need to do that twice. I did it once and it was fixed, now shows the Australian names incl Grey Teal and Australian Magpie.

The app works under iOS only at this stage, eBird says that the Android version is on the way, not yet released though.

Yes it is a bit hard to find in the Apple app store. Search on 'eBird Mobile' and you will get it. And it is free!

Another fantastic eBird resource, highly recommended.

Have you tried out the new eBird iOS app? It works just like BirdLog ANZ, makes data entry a breeze, tho I have yet to test its offline checklist capacity, a problem with BirdLog.

It uses the Clements taxonomy & nomenclature, so we get oddities like Gray Teal and Australasian Magpie.

Highly recommended - David
