For the record (thanks to all chatline reporters), at least 2 pairs of Little Eagles nested successfully in the Canberra area last season – the Campbell Park/Mount Ainslie pair and the Strathnairn
pair. This was a repetition of the previous season, and all 4 adult individuals were pale birds. There is a possibility of another pair north of Black Mountain.

2 Little Eagles over our house in Campbell yesterday. Pale and in what looked like courtship behaviour. Single bird seen twice before this year, along our road and on
slopes of Mount Pleasant above Duntroon.

In very windy conditions:
Seen from the road into Kellys Swamp – 1 Swamp Harrier over open grassland heading towards the car yards.
Seem from the cycle path opposite Duntroon – hassled by Magpies – 1 pale Little Eagle.
To the right of the highway overpassing Fyshwick – 1 Whistling Kite.
Seen from Hindmarsh Drive over Isaacs pond – 1 Wedge-tailed Eagle harassed by Magpies.
Also pleasing to see Pink-eared Ducks, about 18 Shovelers, 1 Freckled Duck, Australasian and Hoary-headed Grebe – lots of gorgeous Purple Swamp Hens and the more common residents
at the wetlands.
