Thanks Harv. We have also visited the below issues before, but I just had a quick refresh on Google Earth.
You will know that the nominal continental divide is marked on the Federal Highway between Canberra and Goulburn. On the western side of the Federal Highway
is ‘Wollogorang’ with its own reedy lagoon, and a bird site to which Malcolm Fife led excursions in the early 1990s. I used to think Rose Lagoon was part of an ephemeral watercourse marked by a sign that ran south from Wollogorang towards Lake George. However
according to Google Earth Rose Lagoon is at 750m, while the northern end of Wollogorang is at 710m, possibly draining towards the Hume/Federal junction (about 685m). So while Rose could be part of the Lake George drainage (unlikely from what I remember of
the southern end of Rose) it could be fed by a contained drainage system or it could be an upper part of the same system as Wollogorang which probably drains towards Goulburn (ie part of the Pacific drainage) although it is also very close to the headwaters
of the Lachlan. Any hydrographers about?
I also use Rose Lagoon.
The official gazetted name is Rose Lagoon – see
http://www.ga.gov.au/place-names/index.xhtml# and extract below.
My understanding is that the adjacent property and veterinary practice is named Rowes Lagoon, perhaps as a play on words, perhaps with legitimate historical
links, I don’t know.
(sorry for revisiting this , Geoff)

I use ‘Rose’. There is evidence in support, and quite a long exchange in the archive. Let’s not revisit

Can COG members therefore confirm that the ‘Rose Lagoon’ that appears in back issues of Canberra Bird Notes is probably a misnomer and should have been ‘Rowse? If not, there are obviously two different lagoons, or a ‘lagoon by another name’!
