This week I was surprised to see a STW – female, without a tail.  I seemed to fly and perch quite easily so no harm apparently to be without a tail.  Any ideas about this?

Usually most birds moult adjacent feathers in a specific sequence (except some like various ducks and penguins that moult all in one go). This would be an Aust Raven and it has lost all its tail feathers at the same time. Quite unusual. It is not necessarily the same bird in both years (unless you know it to be the same bird).
