Indeed it was, but apologies were later tendered.  The concern was that organised crime was capturing the appearance and rego plates of vehicles sometimes used in ‘undercover’ ops.

“Isn’t that one of those digital cameras?”

“Well, yes, it is”

“”All right, well let’s have a look and we’ll see if there are any birds in it”

[muttered, a moment later]  “OK  -  well he does seem to have some birds in there”

Drat.  I should have referred to the Archive first.  It was Superb Parrots not Swifties that invoked the wrath of the Police.

I seem to recall Swift parrots being sighted behind the Belco Markets a few years back.  If I am right about the species Mr Plod became agitated about the presence of binos and cameras near a Plodhouse.

Just saw 3 pairs of parrot like birds high overhead thyme St at Bruce, flying east to west towards Belconnen shops. Couldn't see color well against the light.  Not flying from direction of AIS.

Call very similar to what I recall hearing at Ainslie a few days ago.  Not lorikeets or rosellas or king parrots and not same call as superbs.

Now need to carry binoculars into office with me!  Will keep a lookout for them and post again if I can confirm them.

Ken
