Hi Nathan,

I am sure that the ANWC at CSIRO would happily take the owl. Unfortunately I can’t pick it up at present as I am not yet driving after my ankle operation. If it is possible to drop it off at my house in Kaleen I will get someone to pick it up from me. What is needed with the bird is the date it was collected, where it was collected, the collector’s name, how the bird was found, e.g. road kill, hit window etc and any other details the collector thinks may be relevant, such as in urban garden. Write this data in pencil or biro and put it in with the bird which should be wrapped in paper and placed in a freezer in a plastic bag.

I remind all those that are members of COG and others on the chatline that the instructions for this sort of thing are on the COG web site.

Cheers,

Mark

I've received an enquiry this evening about a deceased Southern Boobook and the member of the public would like to know if anyone is interested in receiving such wildlife for collections or study? CSIRO?

Even if no one is interested in the owl it would be good to get some suggestions in case this query comes up again.

Thanks,
