Howdy I have been using the updated version of the Vanguard Endeavor EDII binoculars for 8 weeks now and can't rate them highly enough. Like many reviewers have stated, they probably belong in the $800-$1000 bracket in terms of build and image quality, but can be picked up for a fraction of that. As much as I don't really like to endorse particular vendors, you can buy the original Vanguard Endeavor ED for $260 or the updated version that I bought for $350, from an e-shop that is based in Brighton Victoria. Just bring up eBay and search "Vanguard Binoculars" to find him. I would also like to thank Bob Rusk for tipping people off to this brand a couple of years back. I hadn't even heard of the brand until he posted on this chatline. I cannot imagine what a more expensive pair would do that these don’t. And they come with a no questions asked lifetime warranty including dropped, water damage or whatever. > Vortex doesn’t get mentioned much in articles recommending birding binoculars but I think that is because they are not well known. Vortex is a US company specialising in rifle scopes and is highly regarded in that speciialist area. > So that’s my suggestion. They have their own higher priced range too but 2 years on I am completey happy with what I have. I know this subject is often on various chat lines in Australia but it is always, in my opinion, worth asking people directly what they use, how good (or bad!!) are they, which ones to avoid and what did they cost. Could you please include Hannah in any reply to me please. > > Thanks in advance, > Mark |
