There has been a sudden influx of G-Gs into Rivett/Chapman too, yesterday morning there were up to eight, including 7 in my GBS site.  This morning I found 3 at the same spot in Rivett and time (6:50) as I originally did yesterday.  They were calling very softly and loathe to move, so I suspect they’d roosted there.

Dogs complained about being left out of the story.  ‘Hey we were there too’, they say, ‘as well as all those noisy burts’.  Not good subjects for a long lens and don’t really help, but easier to count

Combination dog walk and Gang-gang photography this morning. Standing on Rocky Knob (0710-0740) I could hear GGs from all points of the compass.  Very hard to count but conservatively at least 20.  A post-roosting pre-feeding aggregation.  By 0730 they had largely dispersed with just the odd croak heard now. In below blue-framed part flock only 2 of 8 appear to be males, but there are 5 of 9 in the other (red framed) flock.  Most are open-billed (eg inset), giving an idea of the cacophony at the height of the gathering.
