Hello. I need some help with i.d. for a raptor if possible.

This morning in the rainforest gully at ANBG i saw at least 1, maybe 2 raptors moving around between trees a lot and repeatedly shrieking. Briefly saw one in the shadows: dark grey-brown shoulders, wings and face/head (all the same shade). Beige and grey unbroken horizontal bars on chest. Couldn't see its back or tail. Fluffy head. Roughly Aus Hobby size.

Think it might be a young something given its fluffiness and possible begging (if raptors do this?). Maybe a Brown Goshawk? I must say i was surprised to find a raptor in the rainforest gully. Any alternative ideas?

Thanks, Jo
