As a change from Kellys Swamp, we wandered across to Monga NP yesterday at the top of the coast escarpment east of Braidwood. Good stands of wet sclerophyll eucalypts, patches of rainforest, and few people. Several Rufous Fantails, as well as Crested Shrike-tit, Pilotbirds, Redbrowed Treecreepers and Large-billed Scrubwren amongst other species – a longer visit would surely reveal more of interest.
Personal highlight was several Lewins Honeyeaters in the mid-canopy, taken as vicarious compensation for my increasingly unlikely earlier report of the rail of similar name at Kellys...!
