Other birds do this too but it appears this species is particularly known for it and going by the number of times this has been observed, it seems not really a problem for the bird, if the hair is still attached to the dog, sheep, kangaroo, person.......

Sorry Martin and Mark and others without Facebook accounts.

A chap at Bywong has a white dog.  He brushed it and the brush was full of long white hairs. He left the brush outside and a filmed a WHEAHO gathering beakfulls to carry to a nearby nest under construction.
