There were plenty of birds to be seen on my ride between the new Molongolo lakes below the RSPCA and Nara Park behind the Hyatt Hotel early today.

On the lakes were Pink-eared Duck, Hard Head, 1 Black-winged Stilt, Hoary-headed Grebe, Australasian Coot, Wood Duck, Grey Teal, Black Duck, Silver Gull, Australasian Grebe and Australian Pipit calling persistently in the grass below the RSPCA.

Along the lower Molongolo cycle track, European Goldfinch were heard a few times, 2 Golden-headed Cisticola (male) vocally competing with each other near the cycle bridge over the creek, Brown Thornbill, Silvereye and young Ravens.

Around Lake Burley Griffin there are lots of immature and adult Silver Gull, 6 Little Black Cormorant, Reed Warbler in various places.

The new Beijing sister city development near the Japanese garden is well worth a visit also.
