I don't care for the way that parents feeding young, either in nest, or when
they have fledged, is recorded. A week or two ago we saw sittellas feeding
chicks in the nest, and yesterday, we saw sittellas feeding demanding
fledglings. This behaviour happens all the time
OK, dependent young means chicks out of the nest; but it does not indicate that
the parents are actually feeding the chicks. What if the chicks, like magpies
which are often seen, are just demanding to be fed? Do you still call them
dependent?
