On my way to the soon-to-close Bungendore Cultural Centre I found 102 Australian Shelduck in the paddock around Bungendore Meadow Dam. They were split between the surrounds of the dam itself (86 birds) and a hay feeder about 100m away. That is the largest number I have ever recorded there (and set off the flock size alarm on eBird). Swinging by the poo pits I found there were now two Plumed Whistling Ducks - one on the usual spot on a bank and the other checking out sme pipework very close to the road. On the more Easterly pond there were 3 Freckled Duck 6 Australasian Shovelers and 35 Pink-eared Duck. Martin Butterfield |
