That is funny. Their nests are similar size and shape and in similar places and not uncommonly somewhat close. Sounds to me like they are both building by coincidence and not realised the other is working the same site. My guess is the Thornbills came across this by accident and thought hey this is a good start. It would be really interesting to see what happens if they meet there. Any chance you could follow through on this?

I have been watching Red-brows nest building for the last 3 days and today a group of Yellow-rumped thornbills were building in the same nest.  Have  they been known to share, or are the Thorbills just attaching their apartment to what has been started?
