By contrast with what is available today, below is a recently scanned (and grainy and rather dirty) slide from about 20 years ago.  The subject is 2 Gang-gangs on Rocky Knob, both eating sawfly larvae. The enlargement of the female shows the technique is to hold the caterpillar between 2 toes while dismembering it with the bill.
