Bittern project - reminder

I know a number of COG members have individually pledged donations to this crowd-funding project, as has the COG committee on behalf of the organisation. The funding drive finishes on Monday, so if you think it's a worthy cause, and haven't yet pledged support, please think about doing so. Below is the info sent out by Jack Holland after last COG meeting, with details of how to support the project.  Less than $10,000 is now needed to reach the target amount.

Members attending [the October] COG meeting will have enjoyed Matt Herring’s excellent presentation on the Australasian Bittern in rice farms.

Matt mentioned that his group has officially launched their crowdfunding campaign - Tracking Bunyip Birds - to raise $50 000 so they can satellite track endangered Australasian Bitterns.

Matt asked COG members to please consider getting behind the project. Pledges start at $20, with each one entitling you to different rewards. It would be greatly appreciated if you could also share this link through your networks because they're going to need a lot of help. If they don't reach the $50K target, pledges are not withdrawn from donors and the project doesn't go ahead, but if they can make it happen then it's going to be a very exciting journey, following the bitterns' movements online. We'll learn so much, such as how mobile they are when breeding in the rice, where it is they go after rice harvest and which wetlands they depend on during the non-breeding season.
