On 29 September we walked the Canberra Centenary Trail starting from Mulligans
Flat Rd to the eucalypt plantation.
Avian highlights included:
- Tree Martins (near Old Joe)
- Speckled Warbler (one pair on trail down to campground, likely nest nearby
with one bird with juicy grub; another pair on the ridgeline above Mulligans)
- Fan-tailed Cuckoo (eucalypt plantation)
- Shining Bronze-cuckoo
We also saw an Echidna on the hillside above the campground, a group of
Cunningham's Skinks on a rock outcrop high above the suburb of Bonner and
Eastern Banjo Frogs were calling from the dam near the campground.
Plenty of flowering plants with Golden Moth and Blue Caladenia orchids in
Little Mulligans Reserve. We also noticed some signs which had been put up
informing walkers of the endangered Golden Sun Moth, with illustrations of both
the male and female.
Despite the strong winds a good half day walk.
