Most certainly a young one, generally brownish where adults are black.
Wonder where they bred?  Other more knowledgeable folk may correct me, but I presume they breed inland somewhere.
However, some seem resident. There have been some on Gungahlin Pond all year. Does this mean they are resident except for when they are not?

Hi All,

Pink-eared ducks are still at the pond .... 7 of them today and still staying well away from the banks of the pond. (Must be camera-shy!)

Also, would I be correct in saying that the pelican I photographed today is a juvenile?
I think that makes 4 (or possibly 5) pelicans on the pond at the moment.
