The survey of the 9 sites on the eastern side of Mt Ainslie was conducted  today (28.9.14) under pleasant spring conditions. A total of 52 species were recorded, of those 49 at sites. That is certainly a record for a woodland survey at this site. A further 3 species were added between sites.
However, most species occurred only in small numbers or only once. The most widespread species were Eastern Rosella, Noisy Miner, Mistletoebird and Australian Magpie.

Of interest were 3 green Satin Bowerbirds (mainly feeding in mistletoes); 3 species of cuckoo, the first Leaden Flycatcher, a female Flame Robin; Speckled Warblers on 3 occasions, but only once at a survey site; Brown-headed Honeyeater at 3 sites, also sightings of Brown Goshawk and Little Eagle.
