Hi John & Fellow Feathered Fanatics

Sounds great. Didn't have time for a morning walk but took the kids along Gungahlin Pond and into the Gungahlin Pond Park a litlle ways in the afternoon. Despite being a little shady and light intensity dropping off managed to spot and even snap a few little birds. Saw a little Pied Cormorant wing its way  West (home?). Got  buzzed four times by a mini-flight of ducks looking for a place to land near the playground as kids were borrowing their usual patch of grass for a soccer game. 8-)

As the little pesky feathered aviators are almost always moving it is a challenge thing to catch them (especially with a non-SLR) but I attach a couple of photos of a one of them ... I believe it is a Grey Fantail.

Links to 35X, 50X and 100X zoom shots of a Grey Fantail sitting in a bush after it delighted the kids and I with its aerobatic inquisitive flights:

Percival Hill very active this morning.  Rufous and Golden Whistlers, White Naped, White Plumed and White eared Honeyeaters, Grey Shrike Thrush, Superb Parrots.  Below the hill along Ginninderra Creek, Reed Warblers calling constantly, flocks of Red-browed and Double-barred Finches and a pair of Diamond Firetails in the shrubbery near the creek crossing.
