The article I linked to made it clear the problem became apparent only with larger capacity plants of this kind which focus the sun rays with parabolic mirrors to a point for heating purposes ie. many mirrors focussing on a large collecting tower. The article says the US Fish and Wildlife Service staff have observed birds being affected and have called for monitoring of bird impact at the Mojave desert site to be undertaken. I suspect the solar array project planned for Mildura may have been of this type, but that would need to be confirmed. However there were recent media reports that the Mildura project has been put on hold due to uncertainty as to  whether the Abbott Govt. will retain the RET scheme.

Thank you Wayne.

I couldn’t see any information on any bird kills associated with this project.

Does anyone know where such information may be available?

Thanks Ian for this. Does anyone know if there are any mirror/boiler tower solar plants in Australia?

COG members should keep this potential impact on birds in mind:-
