Not enough emails about Gang-gangs lately...

Yesterday around noon I went to see if the Musk Lorikeets had were still at the tennis courts on Kent Street (they weren't, they haven't been seen since Tuesday).

Walking back across Alfred Deakin Hugh School Oval I heard growling from a Tasmanian Blue Gum on Denison Street and found three GGs (these two males and one female), having a siesta.

I've been seeing many lately, including groups. Yesterday there was a noisy group close to my house in north Watson, so I wandered over. I counted 8 at one point, but think double that number also possible. They were occupying several trees in a long Eucalyptus stand. Some were quietly huddled, others feeding. There was a lot of calling and the graceful swooping flying that GGs specialise in. I wondered if it might be two groups excited at meeting up. I first noticed them at 3 pm and it was still going strong when I had to leave 40 mins later.

Last weekend I saw 11 fly in to a tree in Watson. It was outside a friend's house who assures me there are no Gang-gangs in Watson. It was the middle of the day an the birds sat very quietly, in twos and threes. Amongst this group were the half blind pair I mentioned earlier this year. This was my third sighting of that pair. Each time has been in Watson or Hackett.

All info is reported on the survey. Hope others have some Gang-gang observations to share.
