An adult Buff-banded Rail was moving around the top of the tall sedges at the AIS pond today. There are no records of Buff-banded Rail in July in the COG database (to 30 June 2013) (see http://canberrabirds.org.au/wp-content/BirdSummaryData/Buff-banded%20Rail.pdf) and only a few in eBird (last year at Jerrabomberra Wetlands) (see http://ebird.org/ebird/australia/map/bubrai1?neg=true&env.minX=148.9476452636718&env.minY=-35.334498781734865&env.maxX=149.41593749999993&env.maxY=-35.16571540682942&zh=true&gp=true&ev=Z&mr=6-7&bmo=6&emo=7&yr=all&byr=1900&eyr=2014)
