Hi,
On behalf of the COG committee Geoffrey Dabb and I met up with ACTEW Water yesterday to discuss where the development of the Fyshwick Sewage Ponds on Dairy Road is up to.
As you may be aware the Ponds have been closed for some time now as major development and repair works to the site were required. During this time the site has been off-limits to the public.
The ACTEW Water representative from Communications Strategy and External Relations called the meeting to discuss the present position with the site and to seek COG’s views on future access.
It is envisaged that the construction of the site will be completed by the end of the year. Until that time the site will remain off-limits to the public. The present stock fence around the site will be replaced with a new fence of the same type and there will be some new signage.
Between now and the end of the year ACTEW Water has agreed to continue to work with the COG community to develop further some ideas about how they can continue to provide access to the site to community groups such as COG in a way that mitigates risk to their business in a range of areas such as safety to their workers, site operations, public safety and public liability.
Chris Davey (On behalf the COG committee)
