Hi all,

As many of you who know me reasonably well will be aware that over the last year or so I have developed a fairly bad, and very painful, limp. After being pestered and harassed by various members of the banding team to do something about it, today I finally saw an orthopaedic surgeon to see what could be done. This injury goes back 45+ years to being a “young, tough(?) and as it turns out, stupid, bloke who didn’t do much, if anything, about sprained and twisted ankles from sporting injuries that I am paying for now!! The surgeon’s diagnosis was that I have done too much irreparable damage to the ankle joint and the best I could hope for is for the ankle to be “fused”. I am not sure when this will be done but my question is, has anyone in the group, or knows of someone who has, had this procedure done and how successful it turned out?

All information gratefully received.

Thanks in advance and apologies for using the chat line for a non birding topic.

Mark
